Mini corn dogs is an all time favorite snack for both adults and kids of all ages. Traditionally, corndogs uses a batter made out of corn meal and flour. However, in this recipe you will learn how to cook tasty mini corndogs just by using Maya hot cake mix. 

Treat your kids and loved ones with these mini corn dog snack which is very easy to make. Starting with just cutting and skewing the hotdogs, dipping it in batter then deep frying it in oil.

HOW TO COOK MINI CORN DOG RECIPE ( Using MAYA Hot Cake Mix )

     To start with, cut hotdogs in half. Insert the skewers or sticks more than half way through in the hotdogs.

     Next, pour in pancake mix, egg oil and water in a bowl and mix until it is well combined. Transfer the batter in a tall glass.

     Now, to fry the corn dogs, heat cooking oil in a pan for deep frying. Dip hotdogs in the batter, make sure that the hotdogs are fully and evenly coated. then drop them in the oil. Dip the hotdogs in cooking oil. Constantly turn the hotdogs so that the batter will cook evenly on all sides. Remove from heat once its golden brown in color. Repeat this procedure for the rest of the skewed hotdogs.

     Lastly, drain corndogs for excess oil, transfer in a plate and serve with your desired dipping sauce. Enjoy!

can we fry the hotdogs before coating it?

Yes, you can fry the hotdogs but make sure you dry it thoroughly or roll them in flour before dipping it in the batter. In this recipe, we didn’t fry the hotdogs because the oil from frying them makes it hard for the coating to stick to it.

Tips on Cooking this recipe

  • In frying multiple corn dogs at a time, make sure that the batter on the hotdog you are frying is stiff enough to hold in the oil before dipping another one.
  • Make sure that the oil is already hot before dipping the corndogs.
  • German franks, chicken hotdogs, sausages and the like can be used instead of hotdogs.

Ingredients

  • 8 pcs hotdog jumbo size
  • 250 grams Maya Pancake mix
  • 1 pc egg
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • cooking oil for deep frying
