Can we use regular red onion?

You can use red onion, however, it will have a different result when it comes to the taste. Red onions have a stronger flavor and has more sweetness in it.

Why should the milk or water be cold?

We used cold milk/water because the coldness of it makes the batter lighter.

Tips on Cooking this recipe

  • Use tongs or chopsticks in coating the rings. It will be less messy and will have more coating coverage on the rings.
  • Do not over mix the batter, it may cause a soft and dough like texture when fried.
  • When frying in batches, make sure to scoop and remove the loose bits of crumbs in the oil before putting on the next batch. If you leave them, it may burn and give a bad taste in the oil.
