Peel 4 large potatoes.
Cut the potatoes into your desired size.
Prepare ice cold water in a bowl.
Add ¼ cup of corn syrup.
Stir.
Soak potatoes in a bowl of ice-cold water for 20 minutes.
Place the potatoes on a flat surface and pat dry.
Transfer it in a bowl.
Add ¼ cup of cornstarch and coat potatoes with cornstarch evenly.
In a pot, add cooking oil for deep frying.
Deep fry the potatoes.
Remove potatoes from the pot.
In a separate bowl add 1 cup of all purpose flour, 1 tsp of baking powder, 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of black pepper, ½ tsp of paprika, and ½ tsp of garlic powder.
Mix well.
Add 1 piece egg and ¾ cup of milk.
Mix well.
Set aside.
Place 530 grams of fish fillet on a cutting board.
Cut the fish into desired size.
Coat the fish fillet with the previous mixture.
Deep fry.
Remove the fish fillet from the pot.
Deep fry the potatoes for the second time.
Drain.
Place the fish and chips on a plate and enjoy.
