Fish and Chips Recipe *Filipino Style*

Ingredients

  • 530 g Fish Fillet
  • 4 Large Potatoes
  • 1/4 Cup Cornstarch
  • 1/4 Cup Corn Syrup
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 3/4 Cup Milk
  • 1 Pc Egg
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

Instructions

  •  Peel 4 large potatoes.
  • Cut the potatoes into your desired size.
  • Prepare ice cold water in a bowl.
  • Add ¼ cup of corn syrup.
  • Stir.
  • Soak potatoes in a bowl of ice-cold water for 20 minutes.
  • Place the potatoes on a flat surface and pat dry.
  • Transfer it in a bowl.
  • Add ¼ cup of cornstarch and coat potatoes with cornstarch evenly.
  • In a pot, add cooking oil for deep frying.
  • Deep fry the potatoes.
  • Remove potatoes from the pot.
  • In a separate bowl add 1 cup of all purpose flour, 1 tsp of baking powder, 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of black pepper, ½ tsp of paprika, and ½ tsp of garlic powder.
  • Mix well.
  • Add 1 piece egg and  ¾ cup of milk.
  • Mix well.
  • Set aside.
  • Place 530 grams of fish fillet on a cutting board.
  • Cut the fish into desired size.
  • Coat the fish fillet with the previous mixture.
  • Deep fry.
  • Remove the fish fillet from the pot.
  • Deep fry the potatoes for the second time.
  • Drain.
  • Place the fish and chips on a plate and enjoy.
