HOW TO COOK PANCIT CANTON GUISADO RECIPE

Prepare all of the ingredients, then heat the oil in a skillet and fry the squid balls. The shrimp should then be cooked and seasoned with salt and black pepper. The chicken liver is then cooked and seasoned with salt and black pepper. Sautee the onion and garlic until softened, then add the chicken breast and season with salt and black pepper. Add some baguio beans and carrots and cook until the baguio beans and carrots are tender. Add cabbage, oyster sauce, salt, and black pepper to taste. After that, pour water into the pan, add the head of the cooked shrimp, soy sauce, and chicken cubes, and bring to a boil. After that, remove the shrimp head and add the Pansit Canton. Add the previously cooked liver, a dash of oyster sauce, and the cooked vegetables earlier.  After that, add the shrimp and squid balls, and it is ready to eat.

What size of shrimp to use?

The answer is it depends on your personal preference. Medium to large-sized shrimp are perfect for Pancit Guisado, this size shrimp has a nice flavor and texture balance, and they can be readily peeled. Use small shrimp if you prefer a milder flavor. 

What other options rather than squid balls?

Squid balls are popular ingredient on Pancit Canton Guisado, but if you’re looking for other options, here are some alternatives. Tempura is a battered and fried seafood or vegetables. Shrimp balls is also a good substitute similar to squid balls but made with shrimp instead of squid. Fish cakes is a little bit different it is made with fish and other ingredients such as potatoes and spices.

Tips on Cooking this recipe

  • For best results use fresh shrimp and vegetables. 
  • You can add some tempura also if you want, or it really depends on your personal preference.
  • To soften the Pancit Canton before cooking, soak them in water for at least 20 minutes.

  • 200 grams Cabbage

  • 163 grams Shrimp
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 pc Onion
  • 1 pc Carrots
