How to Make BEEF TACOS (at Home)

A Pinoy twist on the popular Mexican street food, the beef taco. Taco is a hand-sized corn or wheat tortilla topped with a filling that can be made by a variety of meat you prefer and garnishes. 

Let’s make this beef taco recipe for as simple as panfrying the beef and assembling the taco by putting in lettuce leaves, cucumbers, tomatoes, white onions, stir-fried ground beef and topping it with mayonnaise, cheese whiz and grated cheese.

HOW TO COOK HOMEMADE BEEF TACOS ( Super Sarap Talaga ) - Pinoy Style Taco Recipes

     Let’s cook the beef first. In a pan, stir fry ground beef. Continue to stir fry until the beef juice dries up and creates oil from its fat. Add sugar and soy sauce, mix well. Add oyster sauce. Continue to stir fry, add a dash of black pepper and some salt to taste if needed. Continue to stir fry for a minute. Transfer to a container and set aside.

     To assemble the taco, get one taco shell and place one lettuce leaf on the bottom. Layer cucumber, tomatoes and white onions on top of leaf. Top with ground beef. Repeat procedure for the remaining taco shells. Grate cheese on top of prepared tacos. Dress with mayonnaise and cheese whiz. Serve and enjoy.

WhERE CAN YOU FIND TACO SHELLS?

You can buy taco shells in groceries. However, you can also make these at home.

What can we use as substitute for romaine lettuce?

You can use, Iceberg lettuce which has the same crispiness as Romaine but has less flavor. Bibb or Boston lettuce can also be used but it is softer but has more flavor.

Tips on Cooking this recipe

  • You can bake or reheat taco shells in the oven or toaster before using it. Toasting the shells adds crisp to it which gives a better texture and mouth feel.
  • You can use other types of meat like poultry and pork, depending on your preference and lifestyle.
  • You can also add up toppings to your desire, some popular taco toppings are guacamole and avocado slices.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams Ground beef
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
  • 1 box Taco shells (8-10 pcs)
  • Romaine Lettuce (8-10 leaves)
  • 1 pc Cucumber chopped
  • 3 pcs Tomatoes chopped
  • 1 pc White onion chopped
  • Grated cheese
  • Cheese whiz
  • Mayonnaise

Instructions

  • In a pan, stir fry ground beef. Continue to stir fry until the beef juice dries up and creates oil from its fat.
