Kimchi is traditional side dish in Korea made out of salted and fermented vegetables that is found in almost all Korean food establishments. This is our treat for all Korean lovers out there. What can be more satisfying than adding Kimchi, a trademark in Korean cuisine in our favorite fried rice.  

This dish is great for Korean cuisine fanatics. Kimchi is a very tasty and simple to make dish. Start by sautéing the spices, adding the rice and kimchi and wait for the rice to cook.

How To Cook Kimchi Fried Rice (Quick and Easy) - Pinoy Style

     Kimchi fried rice is very simple to make. First, heat Olive oil in  a cooking pan. Then sauté garlic and onion until they are light brown in color. Next, add precooked plain cold rice. You can choose  to use  your leftover rice. Cook in high heat then gently crush the rice this will help fry the rice to avoid steaming in the pan and sticking together.

     Next, gradually pour soy sauce and stir to evenly distribute the soy sauce in the rice. Add 120 grams of Kimchi. Season with a dash of pepper and salt as needed only. Add onion leeks and continue to stir fry. Transfer in a serving bowl. You can also add a sunny side up cooked egg as topping. Serve nice and warm.

Where can we find ready to eat kimchi?

Ready to eat kimchi can be bought in supermarkets and groceries and in Korean or Asian specialty stores. 

can we use ordinary cooking oil instead of olive oil?

Yes, you can use ordinary cooking oil. However, we recommend the use of olive oil because it is a much healthier oil variant.

Tips on Cooking this recipe

  • For best results, use left over rice that was kept in the fridge at least overnight. It is more firm and less moist that’s best to use for making fried rice.
  • Before starting to cook the fried rice, make sure that all the components or ingredients of your dish is ready. Cooking fried rice is very quick so all your ingredients should be ready for dropping to avoid the rice from burning while you prepare ingredients.
  • Use a wide pan for cooking the fried rice so that you will have a bigger space when mixing it up to avoid making a mess.

Ingredients

  • 120 grams kimchi
  • 1 pc white onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp onion leeks
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cups left over rice
  • toasted sesame seeds
  • salt
  • ground pepper
  • sunny side up egg for toppings

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in  a cooking pan.
  • Sauté garlic then add onion. Cook until the garlic and onion turns light brown in color.
  • Add precooked plain cold rice. You can choose  to use  your leftover rice.
  • Cook in high heat then gently crush the rice this will help fry the rice to avoid steaming in the pan and sticking together.

  • Add in of Kimchi.
