HOW TO COOK BREADED TOKWA WITH TOKWA AT BABOY SAUCE - BUDGET ULAM RECIPE

     Start cooking this noteworthy dish by slicing the tokwa in desired sizes. Then, coat tokwa slices with breading mix. In a pan, heat oil enough for deep frying. Dredge tokwa slices in breading before placing them in oil. Deep fry breaded tokwa until they turn golden brown. Remove from heat and drain from excess oil.

     For the sauce, mix in soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, onion, oyster sauce, onion chives, finger chili and black pepper in a bowl. Stir to mix the ingredients well. Serve and enjoy.

What can we use if breading mix is not available?

You can use flour and just season it with salt and pepper. You can also add paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and other spices you might like.

Tips on Cooking this recipe

  • Prepare the sauce first before cooking the tofu so that it will have time to rest and soak all the flavors of the ingredients in the sauce. 
  • Make sure the oil is hot before placing the breaded tofu so that the breading would not loose up and to avoid the tofu soaking up too much oil.

Ingredients

  • 721.1 grams Tokwa / Tofu
  • 250 grams Breading Mix
  • 1 cup Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 piece Onion
  • 1 tbsp Onion Chives
  • 2-3 pieces Finger Chili
  • Black Pepper

Instructions

  • Slice tokwa in desired size.
  • Coat tokwa with breading mix.

  1. Dissolve 2 sachets of 3 in 1 Instant Coffee Mix in a 1/2 cup of warm water.
  2. Add 1/2 cup of cold water in the coffee mixture then shake vigorously to mix it well.
  3. In a cup of your choice put 3 Tbsp of precooked Tapioca pearls.
  4. Fill the cup halfway full with the coffee mixture then add 3 to 5 pieces of Ice cubes.
